BUSHFOOT Golf Club hosted a weekend of events sponsored by Holywood and Donnelly.
On Friday there was some fine play in an Open Mixed Greensomes competition.

The winners of the event were Gracehill pair Willie and Gloria Stewart with nett 61.

Ken Caskey and Gillian McKenna were second on 64 and Alison and Brian Beggs came third with 65.

The sponsored competition for Saturday was postponed and replaced by a nine hole Sweep Competition.

And it was a father and son story as Ronnie Laverty took the plaudits with 22 points off a 20 handicap.

Son James, playing off ten, carded 31 points to finish in second place.

James had a better back three to edge Gary McCloskey into third place. Gary (7) and James both scored 21 points.

Sunday saw the Holywood and Donnelly Men’s Open Stroke.

Rowan Neill (17) was the deserved winner with a nett 62.

Ronnie Laverty (20) continued his good form, carding a nett 65 and a better back six to relegate Derek McKendry (8) into third place.

The best gross score was returned by Damian Clyde with a round of 72.

This Saturday Bushfoot will host a Mixed Captains’ Day Foursomes.
