WWI exhibition enjoyedby luncheon clubbers
Claire Russell, Project Coordinator in Irish Street said: “Through the Friday Luncheon Club, we are providing local residents with a delicious, hot, low-cost, nutritional meal, at a time when many residents are finding it hard to make ends meet.
“But more than that, we are giving the older, more isolated members of our community a chance to come out and socialise with their friends and neighbours.”

The activities, which they have taken part in to date, have been armchair aerobics, arts and crafts, healthy eating and talks on safety in the home and community safety.
Most recently, the group enjoyed looking at the impact of the World Wars on the city, and staff at the centre worked alongside local historian, Frank Carey, and the Waterside branch of the Royal British Legion, to develop an afternoon session, based around the Legion’s ‘Londonderry Through The War Years’ exhibition.
This exhibition is on display in the Irish Street Community Centre until Friday (February 6), if anyone would like to pop along and view it.
