Work continues at Banbridge health facility
The Contractor is currently setting up and preparing for the first phase of works, with the development expected to be completed by Autumn 2015.
The new centre will replace three existing facilities in Banbridge – the Health Centre at Scarva Street, Copperfields Centre for adults with a physical disability and Banbridge Social Education Centre for adults with a learning disability. The Health and Care and Day Care Centre will complement existing services already provided on the Banbridge Health Village development, bringing together a range of services in a modern, accessible ‘one-stop shop’ environment.

As part of Banbridge Health Village, the new Health and Care Centre will accommodate around 220 staff, providing a range of community services including Allied Health Professional (AHP) services, a rehabilitation suite, two dental surgeries, children and young people’s services, older people’s services, specialist nursing and a promoting well-being service.
The Day Care facility will provide a dedicated wing for 46 learning disability places alongside a dedicated wing for 20 physical disability places. Both wings will share a range of accommodation including therapy space, dining space and associated support services and will complement the range of community-based day opportunities available in Banbridge.
Some level of disruption is expected but every effort will be made to minimise this.
The design team is Kennedy Fitzgerald Architects and Felix O’Hare Ltd is the appointed contractor.
